Duties:

  • Advanced and highly responsible planning work in performing complex projects and specialized planning.
  • Responsibilities include evaluating and formulating land use strategies, conducting demographic research, database management, analyzing and appraising elements of the Comprehensive Plan and preparing written presentations of development applications and proposals.
  • The Principal Planner is engaged in comprehensive planning, transportation planning, concurrency analysis, economic development and other analytical tasks involving complex and varied planning and development issues.
  • Experience with G.I.S. is preferred.
  • Supervision is received from the Director of Planning and Zoning who reviews work for the effective application of planning principles and techniques.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Planning or closely related field and two years of experience in comprehensive planning; or Bachelor’s degree in urban planning and five years of experience in planning. A comparable amount of training or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.

Salary: Salary Range $45,406 - $68,765.
