Duties:
- Advanced and highly responsible planning work in performing complex projects and specialized planning.
- The initial priority for this position will be to spearhead a complete rewrite the Land Development Code. The principal planner is required to provide justification and support for recommendations based upon sound planning principles and practices and the unique requirements of Flagler County.
- Other responsibilities will include conducting demographic research, transportation planning and concurrency testing, analyzing and appraising elements of the Comprehensive Plan and preparing written presentations of development applications and proposals.
- The Principal Planner is engaged in comprehensive planning and zoning implementation, transportation planning, concurrency analysis, and other analytical tasks involving complex and varied planning and development issues.
- Experience with G.I.S is preferred. Supervision is received from the Director of Planning and Zoning who reviews work for the effective application of planning principles and techniques.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Planning or closely related field and two years of experience in comprehensive planning; or Bachelor’s degree in urban planning and five years of experience in planning. A comparable amount of training or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
Salary: Salary Range $45,406 - $68,765.
