Utilities Engineer

Duties:

  • Highly responsible upper management level position responsible for the oversight of a growing County Utility department.
  • Provides guidance and direction in the operation of the water and wastewater plant including the design, permitting, maintenance and operation of utility systems, supervision, assignment and training of facility as well as administrative personnel.
  • This position will manage, plan and direct the Utilities department to ensure that water and wastewater utility services are provided.
  • Acts as liaison with the general public, private and public agencies and County departments to answer questions or resolve problems.
  • Prepares correspondence, reports, work and project schedules.
  • Reviews local, state and federal policy, rules, regulations, administrative processes, etc. to assure department is in compliance.
  • Requires a high degree of customer service related activities.

Minimum Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Sanitary or Environmental Engineering and six years responsible experience with a permitted water and wastewater utility system, including customer service experience. Knowledge of the general organization, operation and administration of a Utility Service department. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered. Flagler County prefers to have applicants that possess valid registration as a professional Engineer as issued by the Florida Board of Engineering Examiners. In addition, at least two (2) years of responsible charge of personnel and project management are required. Must possess a valid Florida driver's license at the time of employment.

Salary Range
 $62,005 – $93,808
