Emergency Management Planner

EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT PLANNER:  Flagler County Government is accepting resumes and completed County Employment Applications to work as an Emergency Management Planner for the Emergency Services Department.

DUTIES: Develops and enhances a variety of emergency operations plans and procedures utilizing the planning processes outlined by federal, state, and local emergency management standards. Identifies and documents community threats, hazards, capabilities and gaps in a manner consistent with federal, state, and local guidance. Conducts, and evaluates training and exercises on identified plans, procedures, and emergency management standards. Performs other duties as assigned by management personnel.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of the principals and techniques of emergency preparedness planning and implementation. Ability to prepare written and graphic planning reports and studies.  Ability to read and interpret land, aerial, and related maps. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders and community partners. Ability to prepare and make public speaking presentations.  Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to groups and individuals.  Ability to react calmly and promptly during an emergency or disaster situations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor’s degree in public/business administration, planning, public safety or a related field.  At least one year full time experience in emergency planning at the state or local government level is required.  Must possess or be able to possess within six (6) months, a valid State of Florida Class “E” drivers license with a driving record acceptable to the County. Certification as a Florida Professional Emergency Management (FEPA) or Certified Emergency Manager (IAEM) is preferred. Salary $45,000 - $55,000 DOE/Q
