FlaglerCounty Government is accepting resumes and completed County Employment Applications to work as a Mechanic II in the General Services Fleet Division.
DUTIES: Under general supervision, the purpose of this position is to perform skilled work involving maintenance and repair of gasoline and diesel driven motors and related auto equipment, machinery and tools. Employee functions at journeyman level to perform routine work with considerable independence, and more difficult work under direct guidance and supervision of the supervisor.
Performs general and major overhaul and repair work on automobiles, light and heavy trucks, mowers, and mechanical equipment. Inspects, adjusts and replaces necessary units and related parts including valves, pistons, and main bearing assemblies, cooling, fuel and exhaust systems. Tunes motors using standard testing equipment. Have drivable experience. Repairs and overhauls brakes, transmissions, differentials, front and rear axle assemblies. Front end alignments. Repairs and installs hydraulic controls. Takes down, repairs and re-assembles air compressors, pumps and related equipment. Inspects, repairs, overhauls and assembles automotive electric equipment such as generators, distributors, magnetos, and starters. Uses hand and power driven tools and equipment such as grinders, and sanders, drill presses, lathes, Snap-On Modis test equipment and welding equipment and other garage shop tools and equipment. Performs related work as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma, supplemented by 3-years responsible experience in automotive and heavy equipment/machinery maintenance and repair. Must possess and maintain A/C Recycling Certification, ASE Certifications, as well as a Class B Florida Drivers license. Must have knowledge of the assembly, maintenance and repair of a wide variety of general and special automotive and diesel driven equipment, standard methods, practices, tools and equipment of the automotive mechanic trade as well as the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade. Must have the ability to operate, diagnose and repair a variety of equipment, to service any related equipment , and possess skill in operating various automotive repair tools and diagnostic equipment. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Salary Range: $33,904.00-54,641.60, DOE.
