The Flagler County Airport (identifier: XFL) is a county-owned, public use, general aviation (GA) airport that is operated and maintained under the direction of the Flagler County Board of County Commissioners
. The airport’s operation and maintenance are the responsibility of the airport director and his staff. The airport primarily serves corporate aviation and general aviation activity. There are no scheduled airlines providing service at the airport.
The airfield consists of two 5,000-foot-long runways and a 3,000-foot water runway. According to the Federal Aviation Administration
(FAA) data, the Airport is the busiest General Aviation airport with a Contract Air Traffic Control Tower in the state of Florida. Of the 247 Contract towers in the nation, this airport ranks second in the number of operations. It was this high amount of air traffic that led to the construction of an air traffic control tower, which went operational in October 2009.
