Fire Threatens Homes in Painters Hill

A brush fire pushed by strong northeast winds damaged one home and threatened several others and closed S.R. A1A in Painters Hill shortly after noon Wednesday.

Flagler County’s helicopter, FireFlight and fire units from Flagler County, Palm Coast and Flagler Beach responded to the scene.

Flagler County Fire Rescue Chief Don Petito said there was structural damage to a home at 3051 North Oceanshore Boulevard. Petito said porches on the home were burned and the siding was damaged. The home was under construction at the time and no one was in the house. There were no injuries reported in the fire.State Road A1A (Oceanshore Boulevard) was closed for about an hour while firefighters worked to contain the blaze. The fire, pushed by 20 mile-an-hour northeast winds, jumped S.R. A1A and headed southeast into coastal scrub and threatened several other homes. Firefighters, aided by the county FireFlight helicopter dropping water on the fire, quickly brought the fire under control. No other homes were damaged.
