A special meeting of the Daytona North Service District Advisory Council to discuss a proposed increase in the tax assessment paid by residents of the district is planned for 6 p.m. Monday September 25 at the Agricultural Center Auditorium.

The meeting, requested by the Flagler County Commission, is to seek input from district residents on a proposed increase in front foot assessment. The proposal increases the current assessment of 58 cents to $1.58 per front foot of road frontage.

A meeting notice was mailed to individual lot owners in the district, an advertisement was placed in a local newspaper, and 10 signs were placed throughout the district notifying residents of the meeting. Flagler County is also offering bus transportation to and from the meeting for residents who are unable to drive. The bus will begin picking up those residents at 4:30 p.m. at Hidden Trails Community Center and the Country Store, with the last shuttle to the Agricultural Center leaving at 5:45 p.m.

The Flagler County Commission will conduct its final public hearing on the County budget at 5:01 p.m. on Thursday, September 28. The County Commission will decide at that public hearing whether to include the increase for Daytona North, reduce the amount or leave it at the current 58 cents per front foot.

The Agricultural Auditorium is located on Sawgrass Road off of County Road 13 (next to the Flagler County Fairgrounds). Residents of the district are invited to attend and voice their opinion on the proposed increase.
