3 more staffers deploy to panhandle

October 11, 2018 – Three additional Flagler County staffers will be deployed to the panhandle to assist with the recovery efforts after Hurricane Michael makes landfall.

Emergency Management Chief Jonathan Lord and two of his team members – Lea Tardanico and Nealon Joseph – will provide support to the Calhoun County Emergency Operations located in Blounts Town. Lord will be deployed for two weeks beginning Thursday; Tardanico will join him for the first week of the deployment, and Joseph for the second week.

Tardanico was hired this past August, and Joseph was hired this past June.

“This is why we’ve trained,” Lord said. “We provide the support to help communities get back on their feet as soon as possible – to limit their hardships.”

Flagler County staff will join emergency management personnel from Polk and Brevard counties for this deployment.

“It is an honor to be able to help other communities during their time of need,” Commissioner Nate McLaughlin said. “We received so much help the past two years when we were hit by Matthew and then Irma. It’s wonderful to be able to return the favor.”
