CR 2006 work begins April 1
March 25, 2019 – Work to widen and resurface the stretch of County Road 2006 that runs from Dead Lake to County Road 305 will begin Monday.
“We anticipate this construction project will take six months to complete,” said County Engineer Faith Alkhatib. “Intermittent lane closures are expected during the construction. We appreciate everyone’s patience while we improve this roadway.”
Traffic lanes will be widened to 11 feet, and 5 feet of paved shoulders will be added. Cross streets along CR 2006 will be improved with drainage pipes and paved intersections. New guardrail will be installed at the existing culverts for improved safety.
Halifax Paving was awarded the $2.5 million construction project, which is funded by the Florida Department of Transportation through the Small County Road Assistance Program (SCRAP).
