Flagler County Emergency Management introduces ´Concept of Operations' to municipal partners

June 7, 2019 – Representatives from all five of Flagler County’s municipalities were introduced to the newly instated “Concept of Operations” for the 2019 hurricane season.

Emergency Operations Director Jonathan Lord rolled out the county’s new disaster management system called WebEOC on Wednesday, which will improve efficiencies during an activation of the Emergency Operations Center. It can be accessed remotely, and has a robust tracking system that makes it easy to share information internally and with other agencies externally.

“This system will bolster the strong partnerships Flagler County Emergency Management already has with each municipality,” Lord said. “Solid communication is critical for us to meet the needs of all of our residents, visitors, and businesses.”

Other operational changes included additional personnel, in some cases, and clarification of the roles of others such as that of Special Projects Coordinator Michael Esposito – who serves as Liaison Officer to the municipalities during activations.

"We had representatives from all the municipalities, and they were very enthusiastic about WebEOC and the tweaks to the physical dynamics of the Emergency Operations Center – all of which is going to help us communicate better,” Esposito said. “It’s great to have a system in place that will allow us to easily share information instantly, especially when working remotely.”
